What you will be doing

The Product Sourcing Manager role is an integral leadership role in DCL Supply and the successful candidate will work in partnership with the Sales Manager, Marketing Manager and Finance Manager to ensure seamless day to day operations while building a shared plan to sustainable growth and aligned priorities.

The key focus for the Product Sourcing Manager is to establish the strategy and execution plans that secure new lines of business, optimize existing lines of business and ensure our product fulfillment operation is positioned well to serve our business needs today and for the future.

The role encompasses a broad range of responsibilities including all aspects of Product Sourcing (Cultivating vendor relationships, existing and new), Product Management (Pricing, Promotion, Training, and overall market readiness), and Supply Chain (purchasing, logistics and warehouse operations).

The main accountabilities of the Product Sourcing Manager are as follows:

Product Sourcing (50%)
  • Maintain excellent strategic relationships with all existing vendors, ensuring satisfaction with our performance and ensure all contractual obligations are met or exceeded. Maintain excellent channels of communication ensuring important updates and information flows both ways.
  • Apply a systematic approach to exploring growth opportunities requested by sales as well as cultivated opportunities for expansion and growth that align with our planned capabilities and spearhead internal communication to build alignment on best choices.
  • Strategically research and build a network of vendors with product opportunities and promote DCL Supply's capability as a Master Distributor.
  • Product Management (40%)
  • Champion our product readiness approach to the market and ensure excellence in execution with all products we bring to market. Establish product launch plans through alignment with Sales Manager and Marketing Manager and oversee that all key launch elements are executed on time and ensure coordination of needed internal and external resources.
  • Manage all pricing (and related systems) to ensure profitability and revenue targets are met or exceeded.
  • Facilitate all product training needs by leveraging vendor contacts and internal resources to produce both internal and external training materials.
  • General Operations (10%)
  • Lead all purchasing activities and strategy with systems, policies and financial targets.
  • Establish and expertly manage a network of logistics partnerships that satisfy current and future states for our operations. This includes optimizing our cost vs benefits goals.
  • Ensure our warehouse operations are positioned to support our growth plans underpinned by ensuring the safety of our people.
  • What we are looking for
  • Post-secondary education or comparable work experience.
  • A minimum of 7 years of experience in progressively senior roles in both product sourcing and product management, ideally within the HVAC or sheet metal sector or construction products industry.
  • Proven ability to negotiate win-win deals and build loyalty and trust quickly.
  • Exceptional leadership acumen with a proven ability to lead others towards a common goal.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to not only define the problem but also to help visualize and articulate solutions.
  • Analytically driven and evidence-based decision maker with strong business judgement, and the ability to synthesize and draw key insights from diverse and complex information and data using Excel.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to adapt communication style to different audiences and stakeholders.
